Halloween is on of the oldest celebrations still acknowledged today. It has survived from ancient pagan times through various conquerors, cultures and religious influences and is now firmly entrenched as an annual holiday world wide when people are dressing up in Halloween costumes, creating mayhem, trick or treating and generally having a fun day.
Pagans believed it was a night when their dead walked the earth but with the advent of Christianity the Roman Catholic Church absorbed this ritual and made it a day to honor their Saints. Trick and Treat, is an old Irish custom whereby peasants visited homes of richer folk on this night to collect food or money, if nothing was forthcoming they would play a trick on that home as a payback for their being stingy.
Through television and film this evening has been depicted in comedies, romances and horror films that have gripped viewers globally and drawn them into this celebration. The dramatic depiction of monsters and bloodsucking vampires together with mythical creatures from the block busters movies all inspire Halloween designers and home craft needlewomen to greater heights of creation. Costume manufacturers and accessory suppliers are all catering to this growing demand and annually provide a wide selection of goodies to choose from.
Dressing up in Halloween Costume Canada and playing a part has always appealed to human nature and no matter whether you are three or seventy it still creates a buzz of excitement and expectation. People often wonder how they would act in another type of character and this event gives them the opportunity of finding out. Whole families, plus their dog in matching outfits are a regular sight out and about on All Hallows Eve.
Deciding on what to wear as a Costume could be a problem as there are so many available at stores and online were one literally shops world-wide. From mass produced to made-to-order outfits of super heroes, fictional characters, mythical legends, cuddly animals and scary creatures there is something for everyone.
One may decide to dress the family in accordance to a famous family group such as the Adams Family who with their weird and delightful characters fit into Halloween costumes like a hand into a glove. Waiting to see what new and original ideas people have dreamt up is quite possibly as much fun as designing one’s own costume.
Orange, green and black have become favorite colors when decorating one’s home and a hollowed-out pumpkin eerily lit up with a candle is a must have. Many people are creating macabre scenes of graveyards and other scary sets in their gardens and homes to enthrall any visitors.
Everyday life keeps one fairly busy and there is little time between work, family and friends to just enjoy a fun event in this frantically rushed life of today. It does a person a load of good to take time out, have some first class merriment whilst getting the family dressed in Halloween costumes and setting off for a night of treats. But, beware! A person never knows who may be lurking out there.
