It may come as a surprise to pet owners like you but yes, your pets can catch common colds too and all the other diseases that humans can get from living in a dirty environment or from eating dirty foods. It has been medically proven that pets can be affected by the common medical conditions that humans suffer from. If you are a pet owner and this fact worries you, here are some of the common conditions that may affect your pets.
1. Pets Can Have Allergies Too. Although it might be known that some people may have suffer from allergies because of their pets, what most pet lovers do not know is that their pets may also be allergic to some things. Pets can be allergic to pollen, insects and other types of food. Most dogs are allergic to chicken and shrimps. It is always best to know what your pets are allergic to even before you decide to take care of them to avoid any loses.
2. Urinary Tract Infection. If you notice your house-trained pets suddenly make accidents or do things they do not normally do, then perhaps there must be something wrong with them from the inside. They may be suffering from a medical condition that is causing them to act crazy. When you pets are having difficulty urinating, you should immediately take them to their veterinarian to ensure to get proper medication.
3. Pets Can Suffer From Arthritis. As people grow older, they suffer from a lot of degenerative diseases like Arthritis or even Osteoporosis. However, little do people know that pets can suffer from degenerative diseases as they grow older too. Arthritis is a joint disease that usually develops in pets that are much older although the younger pets may also suffer from other forms of degenerative diseases that can wear and tear their strength. Like what people usually do whenever Arthritis strikes, pets may also be given proper medication to relieve them off the pain. Although it is important to take note that pets should be given medication that is especially made for their kind and nothing like what the humans drink.
4. Too Much Sweet Foods Can Get Them Diabetes. Pets are very much vulnerable to develop the deadly diabetes. If you overfeed your pets with sweets, they will most likely develop diabetes and when they do, like humans, they might need to be insulin dependent. Perhaps, even before such things happen, make sure that you feed your pets right and give them the food where they can get the nutrients that they need.
5. Pets Can Develop Skin Cancer. Sadly, even if your pets are covered with hair or feathers or even scales, they can still be susceptible to developing skin cancer. If your pets are have a lighter shade of hair color, pink nose or have light colored patches, it is important that you monitor where they go, what they do and what you feed them. This is to make sure that they are safe.
